The First United Methodist Church of Shelton is a welcoming family of God committed to becoming more and more like Jesus Christ.

We affirm and respect each individual as a child of God. We celebrate the uniqueness of each person and welcome people of every age, ethnicity, and race, sexual orientation and gender identity, marital status, socio-economic situation, and physical/mental ability.

Pastoral Appointment Announcement

Bishop Bickerton has appointed Bill Florin to serve at First UMC, Shelton, beginning on July 1, 2023

At the recommendation of the Church Council, the Staff Pastor Parish Relations Committee requested that a part time pastor be appointed to our church. Bishop Bickerton has honored this request and has appointed Bill Florin to serve at First UMC, Shelton, beginning on July 1, 2023.

Pastor Bill resides in Monroe with his wife and two teen aged children and serves as Connecticut District co- lay leader. He is currently a certified lay minister, and this will be his first appointment serving as a pastor. He is looking forward to taking this next step in his journey of ministry.

Inclement Weather Updates

The safety and well-being of our Congregation are of the utmost importance to us, and as such, we may need to adjust how upcoming church service are delivered.

We will communicate those changes in the form of Email and Website updates as quickly as possible.

Given the severity of the snowfall and the associated risks, it is in the best interest of our community to prioritize safety and stay off the roads. We understand that coming together for worship is a cherished tradition, but we want to ensure everyone's safety first and foremost.

New Bible Study!

You’ve asked for it, and now we are doing it. The people of First UMC of Shelton will be coming together for a new Bible study beginning Tuesday evening, February 6 at 7:00 PM. The study sessions will be led by Pastor Bill. (Co-facilitators are welcome!)

All are welcome to participate. If you would like, invite people outside of our congregation to attend and participate. This is truly open to ALL.

This is a 12-week study that will begin Tuesday, February 6 at 7:00 PM. We will meet every Tuesday unless announced otherwise and in advance. You may participate, even if you are not available every Tuesday. Do your best to attend
