A Message from Our Pastor

Welcome to First United Methodist Church of Shelton!

Pastor Bill Florin

Hello! I am Bill Florin, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Shelton.  We are so glad you decided to visit our site.

Our Shelton congregation is vibrant, multigenerational, and multicultural. We affirm that all people are made in God’s image. You are welcome here.

If you are checking us out for the first time, I encourage you to look at some of the recordings of our past services. You can find them on our website.

Even better, come to a worship service soon. We meet every Sunday morning at 10:00 AM – including during the summer – and worship is always open to everyone. I am confident that you will find our people to be warm and welcoming. Come to worship, stay for hospitality (coffee, drinks, and snacks), and get to know us.

In our United Methodist tradition, we firmly believe that Christianity is a religion of both piety and action. We worship, pray, sing, study God’s word, and celebrate the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion. And we get our hands dirty in the world as the hands and feet of Christ to make a vital difference for our community. This includes feeding ministries and community partnerships.

We even invite you to begin new ministries if you are feeling called to lead us in some new direction. Lay people (i.e., not clergy) are an essential catalyst for change and growth in our church. Ours is a congregation open to new ideas for mission and ministry. Maybe you have an idea that we can explore. Let’s do it!

Finally, remember that you are welcome. Wherever you are on your faith journey, you belong.  There is no time like now to enjoy the support and friendship offered by this community gathered in Christ’s name.

Let’s start the conversation. Call the office at First UMC of Shelton at 203-929-3537. Or email me, Pastor Bill, at pastor@umcshelton.org. You can even check us out on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/umcshelton. I look forward to meeting you.

In Christ’s Love
